The Waitemata Harbour takes on a more gentle character when enjoyed on the traditional steam tug, William C Daldy.
As all of her powerful working parts take you into a world of long-forgotten sounds, aromas and feelings, you can imagine an Auckland of the 1930′s when William C. Daldy ruled the docking and departures of famous ships also under steam.
William C Daldy is a working museum.
You and your guests can see everything in operation in all parts of her vintage construction.
Qualified staff are walking encyclopaedias and passionate students of the age of steam and the tug they love to take to sea and share with guests.
You can combine fun and relaxation with a fascinating glimpse into Auckland over 75 years ago.
There are some concessions to the 21st century:
- An excellent Sound-system
- Bar and catering facilities
- Operated under Maritime NZ safety regulations with all current operating certificates.
- We do NOT have eftpos on board
Ideal for groups up to 126 guests, the vintage steam tug William C Daldy is available for 3 or 4 hour harbour cruises in the evenings. The William C Daldy is also available for Hauraki Gulf half day and all day private charters. Charters outside these times may be possible by arrangement.
Corporate Entertaining, Party Cruises, Weddings, Hen Nights, Birthdays and Client/Staff Entertainment. At 750 Tons displacement the William C Daldy is the most stable charter vessel on Auckland Harbour.
The charter season is from 1st November until 30th April.

Charter Fees
William C Daldy’s charter fee is $800 + GST per hour. Pickup fees may apply. Arrange your own catering, we have a list of caterers we can recommend.
Minimum charter time for Harbour cruises is 3 hours.
William C Daldy is a licensed venue. Our bar prices are the best on Auckland Harbour.
BYO is available with a $350.00 corkage fee.
