During service these brass plates were shown with pride on the front of the wheelhouse. They are now kept in less obvious places to protect them. However, they still can be viewed.

With a 12in diameter piston and a 12in stroke the windlass has plenty of power and is still regularly used for lifting the anchor and warping the ship alongside. |
